Domain 4
Domain 4 is all about the need for educators to continue to grow professionally even after getting a job teaching. The components for Domain 4 include, Reflecting on Teaching, Maintaining Accurate Records, Communicating with Families, Participating in a Professional Community, Growing and Developing Professionally, and Showing Professionalism. This domain is extremely important for teachers. Teachers need to reflect in order to assess whether their students are grasping the content being taught to the extent necessary for them to understand it. Accurate records must be kept in order for the students and families to know how well the students are doing in class. Teachers need to be communicating with parents and guardians in order to show that they care and to get the families involved in their child's education. Participating in a Professional Community, Growing and Developing Professionally, and Showing Professionalism all tie together because if a teacher is not professional and is not growing in their content area, then they will not be respected in their classroom, school, or community.
