Pinterest is a social media site that can be a great resource for teachers. When creating your free account, the website will ask you to choose topics that you are interested in. Once completing this step, the website should take you to your home page that will have your feed. This feed will consist of endless pins based on what topics you said you were interested in. As you can see, I am still growing my professional Pinterest, but I have pins of lesson plans, examples of classrooms that I may want to base my future classroom on someday, etc. These pins that I have saved will be a great way to get ideas when I feel as though I am running out of creativity. Looking at pins can even spark personal creativity and lead you to your own original ideas.
Pinterest fits into Component 4E because it helps teachers grow professionally by being involved in an online community of educators who are supporting each other by sharing their ideas. It fits specifically into element 1, which is Enhancement of Content Knowledge and Pedagogical Skill. It relates to this element because educators who utilize Pinterest are constantly connecting with other educators and gaining new knowledge and resources through the website.
Pinterest is a great tool that is extremely user-friendly. I would not change anything about this website. It is a great place to get ideas and spark creativity. I will use this when I set up my future classroom and when I start to feel low on ideas for lessons or teaching strategies.
