Growing and Developing Professionally
What is Component 4E?
Component 4E is growing PLN. It is also making sure teachers are staying up to date with the content area that they teach. In addition, teachers should be working together and giving each other feedback.
Why do we need Component 4E?
Component 4E is important because teachers need to continue to grow and learn in their content area. Teachers also must build off of each other's knowledge. If educators are not up to date on new developments within their content area, then they will not be teaching their students current information.
Elements of Component 4D:
Element 1 is Enhancement of Content Knowledge and Pedagogical Skill. Teachers must be constantly attending conferences, meetings, or workshops in order to build upon their knowledge.
Element 2 is Receptivity to Feedback from Colleagues. Educators must be willing to receive constructive criticism. This criticism is important so teachers can keep a clear mind about their teaching methods. If an educator is not using sufficient teaching methods for their students, then they need to be made aware so the students will benefit from the instruction.
Element 3 is Service to the Profession. Teachers should be contributing to and investing in other educators by going to conferences and workshops.
